What’s to come next?
The Marikians started in 1931 as a hardworking migrant family in East Los Angeles. A single horse drawn wagon, filled with bananas, acted as the catalyst for the entrepreneurial endeavor that would blossom into Markian Brothers Produce. Marikian Brothers Produce distributed produce throughout Southern California for the next 75 years. This rich heritage gave Mike Marikian the foundation and passion for the produce industry that he has today.
Mike Marikian started his produce career in 1991, working for his father at Marikian Brohers Produce. In 2005, Mike’s dad, who instilled a passion for the produce industry within Mike, retired. Mike started working for Charles Gilb in 2006, eventually becoming owner and operator of the C.E. Gilb Co. Charles taught Mike many great lessons, but there was always a quote in the back of his mind that Charles would tell Mike frequently, “If it’s important to you, then put your name on it.”
“If it’s important to you, put your name on it.” – Charles E. Gilb
In honor of Mike’s family and their rich produce history, and at the same time to honor Charles, the launch of Marikian Produce is now live. We aim to continue to deliver the same great service as we have been doing for 35 years. Mike feels it is important to develop relationships based on the historical experience in the produce business. In a world where shallow promises and empty deals often result in fruitless wheel turning, The goal of Marikian Produce is to develop relationships that are beneficial to everyone involved.
